Hundreds of protesters march down Route 19, sit to honor George Floyd

MT. LEBANON, Pa. — Hundreds of protesters marched on Route 19 in Mt. Lebanon, causing some of that roadway to be blocked off.

Chopper 11 flew above the large crowd as they spread across the roadway for miles.

Police said Washington Road was closed from Dormont to Cochran Road from 3 p.m. until around 6 p.m. when the peaceful protest ended.

There haven’t been any incidents, and police are blocking traffic ahead and behind the protesters as they moved through Dormont and Mt. Lebanon.

At the intersection of Rt. 19 and Jefferson Drive, organizers led the group in a sit-in for several minutes to honor George Floyd, whose death sparked nationwide protests calling out police brutality.
