Indiana Co. father builds special gun mount allowing son with Cerebral Palsy to harvest first deer

INDIANA, Pa. — “His smile says it all.”

That’s part of a social media post showing just how happy an Indiana County boy was after his father built a special gun mount for him to go hunting.

In the post from PA Trophy Takers on Facebook, Lucas McCormick can be seen smiling from ear-to-ear while proudly showing off his large 4-point buck.

McCormick’s family told Channel 11 he has cerebral palsy. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CP is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and control their muscles. It is the most common motor disability in childhood.

The contraption features a tripod with a special rest for a rifle allowing McCormick to head into the woods and harvest a deer.

Like the post says, “Congrats Lucas on becoming a PA Trophy Taker!”
