GREENSBURG, Pa. — A man accused of brutally beating then burning the body of a Vandergrift woman was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder, according to our partners at TribLIVE.com.
Walter Cable was charged with criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse in the death of Ronny Cable in February 2017. The two are not related but were friends.
The jury began deliberations Wednesday. And Thursday morning, they asked the judge three questions: What is the legal definition of reasonable doubt? Does the destruction of Ronny Cable’s property constitute robbery? And in order to agree on a conspiracy charge, must one agree to have another count as a guilty verdict?
Walter Cable reportedly took the stand in his own defense Tuesday, saying he didn’t have anything to do with the death.

Police said Walter Cable and another man, Devin Akamichi, robbed Ronny Cable of pills and money and then beat her with a hammer. They then burned her body in a wooded area of Derry Township.
