PITTSBURGH — An assistant district attorney has asked the jury to find Charles Becher, 24, guilty of the first-degree murder of a man on Jan. 29 in the parking lot of Club Erotica.
According to our partners at TribLIVE.com, Assistant DA Ryan Kiray said during closing arguments Tuesday that the victim, Seth McDermit, would still be alive Becher and the women he was hadn’t escalated the situation and followed Becher outside.
Becher’s trial started earlier this month and at one point he testified on his own behalf claiming the shooting was in self-defense.
Becher’s defense attorney argued that while his client had a gun, he only fired warning shots before McDermit and the men he was with started attacking. The attorney argued that Becher no longer had the weapon by the time he was taken to the ground and that four men larger than him stomped, kicked and choked him.

Five people were shot during the brawl and another man besides McDermit died. Christopher Butler, 22, was named as the other victim. Two women and a man were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment that night.
The trial for 25-year-old Khalil Walls, who is accused of killing Butler, will begin later next year.
