Lamb sold in Pennsylvania recalled by importer after inspection issue

PITTSBURGH — An import company alerted the United States Department of Agriculture it was recalling nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen lamb meat after it was not re-inspected when it was brought into the country. The meat was sent to distributors in Pennsylvania.

USDA officials said there have not been any reports of adverse reactions from the meat.

The items were imported in July.

Officials said they are concerned that some of the products are in people’s refrigerators and freezers. You’re urged to throw the products away if you’ve bought them.

The product subject to recall is:

Cardboard boxes weighing between 33 and 39 lbs. each, containing frozen, raw square-cut shoulder bone-in lamb products with shipping mark of M1353023

Each box contains the New Zealand establishment seal “SPM135.”
