PITTSBURGH — Pittsburghers are known for having big hearts, and one group is now extending that compassion to our four-legged friends.

“Whether they’re sick, they’re injured, they’re recuperating from something, they’re still wagging their tails,” Layne said.

It’s Layne’s mission to return that unconditional love with a touch of comfort everyone can relate to -- a cozy blanket.

Four months and 712 blankets to 10 states -- and even the country of Ireland later -- Pittsburgh Pet Prayer Blankets is a growing act of love with volunteers hand-tying fleece blankets for any pet in need.

Layne got the idea for Pittsburgh Pet Prayer Blankets earlier this year while fostering 17 puppies with her husband. She made each of them a little blanket and shared stories on social media.

If you would like more information on donating, volunteering or receiving a blanket, you can contact Layne by visiting petprayerblankets.com.
