PITTSBURGH — We know that the coronavirus pandemic is an overwhelming and stressful time for everybody, so we’re going to put together some positive things that are happening within our community to help those in need.

Woman donates gift bags to Connellsville Police Department

McKeesport church donates meals to food bank volunteers

The St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church delivered 40 dinners to the Monroeville Satellite office and another 80 to the Duquesne Food Bank.

The parish also made a donation of $600 to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Mattress Factory - Museum of Contemporary Art giving away free art kits on Friday

Every Friday, the Mattress Factory - Museum of Contemporary Art is giving way free art kids.

You can pick up an art kit at its Jacksonia Street entrance.

You’ll find pencils, markers and sketchbooks.

Canon-McMillian Education Assoc. raises $10,000 for food bank

The teachers of the Canon-McMillan Education Association are helping their community in need during the COVID-19 pandemic by raising money for a local food bank.

In just under three weeks, the group of teachers raised $10,000 for the Canonsburg-Houston Food Bank to help local families in need.

The teachers made donations on behalf of themselves and their families. The union’s executive board also made a donation.

Local music teachers create full band rendition to show appreciation

A teacher at Central Catholic High School and a teacher at Hopewell High School created a full marching band rendition of “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 to show students they were missed. The teachers recorded themselves playing 14 different instruments.
