Venerable Pittsburgh radio station KQV will be off the air at the end of the year.
Pittsburgh's oldest all-news radio station, with nearly 100 years of reporting, KQV started in 1919 and is one of only three radio stations east of the Mississippi River – along with KDKA and KYW in Philadelphia – with call letters beginning with "K."

The station will go off the air on Jan 1. The announcement was made at a staff meeting on Friday.

"This has always been a labor of love,” said general manager Bob Dickey. “The news business is a tough business. We loved doing what we were as long as we've done it."
Dickey said declining advertising revenue was a factor in the station's closure.
