Major water main break affects service in Duquesne

A major water main break is threatening water service to large parts of Duquesne on Wednesday morning, and some residents are being advised to boil their water.

The break, which occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, is at the corner of Kennedy Avenue and South Fourth Street.

Water buffaloes are available to residents at city hall and the Sunoco on Commonwealth Avenue.

City manager Frank Piccolino said residents can expect low water pressure or even a loss of water service as crews try to fix the break.

Piccolino sent out a boil order at about 8 a.m. for residents between Seventh and Linden streets and Clearview Avenue to Hoffman Boulevard.
