BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A man pulled a rifle Monday morning on troopers who responded to a Butler County home, police said.
Richard Gniewkowski is accused of pulling the gun as troopers responded to the home for a burglary alarm going off, police said. Police said Gniewkowski had to be talked out of the home.
Pennsylvania State Police said two troopers showed restraint when they came face-to-face with Gniewkowsk, who had a gun pointed at them.
“Unfortunately, there are a lot of things we cannot control and luckily there were no shots fired in this incident,” said Trooper Jim Long.

Troopers said Gniewkowsk was pointing the weapon directly at them. The troopers said they drew their service guns, announced themselves as troopers and ordered Gniewkowsk to drop the gun. They said he refused.
“They did their best to tell him state police was there. They activated the lights that are on their PA system,” Long said.
After a few moments, the suspect surrendered, state police said. State police said the suspect was severely impaired.
No reason has been given as to why he pulled the weapon.
Trooper said the gun, a loaded AR-15, had a round in the chamber and the selector switch was on fire.
The suspect was charged with aggravated assault and a number of other charges.
