WILMERDING, Pa. — A man was arrested after detectives said he pulled out a gun, shot at them and then ran off.
According to investigators, three detectives working in Wilmerding encountered 20-year-old Matthew Diggs Jr., who appeared to have a gun. The detectives identified themselves, and that’s when they said Diggs started shooting at them.
The officers fired back and Diggs ran off. Police said he was found a short time later in Turtle Creek.
Investigators said no one was hit by any of the gunfire, but a cruiser was shot several times.
Diggs is charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and a firearm violation.
