A homeowner says surveillance video shows someone trying to break into his truck.

Channel 11 talked to people in the Ross Township neighborhood who said someone has rummaged through their cars and items are now missing.

Then, over the weekend, a woman's car was stolen right out of her driveway.

TRENDING NOW:

Sam Noah told Channel 11 that his wife's Hyundai was stolen right off their Mulkerin Road driveway around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

"My wife looked out the window and saw it backing up and going down the street," Noah said.

He said the thief first tried to steal the more expensive Jaguar that was parked right next to the Hyundai.

"He was inside, but he couldn't take anything out of it because it locks up on you," Noah said.

The couple's mother lives two doors down.

"We've been here, built this house in 1961. We never had this,” Eileen Sipes said.

Someone broke into her husband's truck that same night.

"He went in there and took his GPS out of the truck," Sipes said.

Ross Township police said the person responsible for the car break-ins and theft is a teenager.

They said he crashed the stolen car at the intersection of Bascom and Perrysville avenues.

He sheared off a pole in the process and Channel 11 saw public works crews replacing that pole on Monday.

Channel 11 then spoke to Rich Schwartz Mier, who lives less than a mile away on Jacks Run Road.

"He actually passed my vehicle, then came back and attempted to get in it,” Mier said. He captured surveillance video of a person trying to break into his truck that same night.

He wants his neighbors to be extra alert and to always lock their car doors.

"Be proactive. I always believe if you see something, say something," Mier said.

The stolen car was totaled.
