Man dead after shot in chest; Second shooting victim in the hospital

PITTSBURGH — A man died Tuesday after he was found shot in the chest along Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.

Police said officers and EMS responded at about 11 a.m. to a Shotspotter alert and 911 calls. When first responders arrived, they found the man in the street. Medics transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.

Here is a map showing where the victim was found on Bedford Avenue:

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Randy Edwards, 33, of Pittsburgh.

Investigators said he was pronounced dead a short time later.

During the investigation, police said a second gunshot victim walked into an area hospital. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Just before noon, SWAT was called to the 2600 block of Tilbury Avenue after a vehicle investigators believed was connected to the shooting was found outside a home.

Operators gave verbal commands for anyone inside to leave the residence. SWAT eventually got inside and searched, but didn’t find anyone inside.

Police said they are still investigating.
