PITTSBURGH — A man died in a shooting early Thursday morning in Pittsburgh’s South Side, police said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 5 a.m. in the 2300 block of Mission Street in the South Side Slopes neighborhood.

Police said they have little to go on as their investigation, which is being handled by the Violent Crime Unit, gets underway. Police K-9s were used to search brush in front of the house, which is split up into several apartments.

Investigators said the victim, who is believed to be in his 40s, was found on the second floor of a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“You don't think anything of people partying in the middle of the night but, obviously, a shooting is much worse than a petty crime we usually see,” Nicholas Foti, a neighbor, said.
Another neighbor told Channel 11’s Jennifer Tomazic that he believes the shooting was an isolated incident.
