ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — Two people were injured Saturday afternoon when a pole fell onto an EMS vehicle and struck them in Ellwood City, Lawrence County.
The incident happened at Helling Stadium during a youth football game.
Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Myers said a Wampum firefighter was hit on the hand, breaking off his wedding ring. A 13-year-old girl, a junior cheer sponsor, was also hit and was taken to a hospital.
Ellwood City Little Wolverines president Pat O’Brien said they were hosting their first game when it was stopped for a lightning delay. The teams were in the locker room at the time of the incident.

Officials said the EMS vehicle that the pole crashed down onto was on standby at the stadium for the youth football game.
