AVALON BOROUGH, Pa. — A 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were both treated at a Pittsburgh hospital after being shot in the head in Avalon, according to police.
Investigators said officers were called at 12:05 p.m. to respond to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Girard Avenue. Police found the 23-year-old victim shot in the head and he was transported in critical condition.
A second victim, the teen, showed up at another local hospital with an apparent grazing wound to his head from the gunfire.
At the request of Avalon Police, Allegheny County Homicide Detectives took over the investigation and found both individuals were in a fight and were struggling over the handgun when the shooting occurred.
Police said they are still investigating.
