Man wanted for deadly November East Liberty shooting arrested in Seattle

PITTSBURGH — A man wanted for an East Liberty homicide was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Seattle, Washington, Thursday.

According to police, Terrence Washington was wanted in connection with a Nov. 10 shooting in which a woman was found dead in a home along Rippey Street. The victim, 32-year-old Makeida Thompson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a witness told them Washington claimed Thompson was keeping him from seeing a child he fathered when the shooting occurred.

The U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force alerted officials in Seattle that Washington could be in the area. On Thursday, he was arrested by federal and local law enforcement officers.

Washington faces criminal homicide charges, among others. It’s not clear when he will be brought back to the Pittsburgh area in connection with those charges.
