PITTSBURGH — An East Liberty man announced he is running for mayor of Pittsburgh as an independent.

Marlin Woods, 48, works as a benefits consultant. He is now the second person running for mayor in November after state Rep. Ed Gainey, 51, beat Mayor Bill Peduto in May’s Democratic primary.
