New waist-high white poles installed in the street at a South Side intersection are frustrating motorists and at least one nearby business owner.

The poles were installed along the corners of South 18th and Mary streets, and concerned citizens say they can't get any answers from the city.

"I've seen near-collisions, people stomping on their brakes," said Christine Marburger, owner of nearby Diamond in the Ruff pet salon, who added she and others have been given parking tickets for parking too close to the poles.
