NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — A TikTok challenge called “Devious Licks” has led to school vandalism across the region and district leaders to warn students and parents of consequences. Officials in the New Ken-Arnold School District are hoping a digital hall pass can help fight these acts of vandalism.
The challenge encourages students to rip equipment from bathroom walls, smash mirrors, destroy garbage cans and more, and for them to post some of the video to social media.

According to our partners at TribLIVE.com, New Ken-Arnold leaders said recent bathroom vandalism has been an issue with students tearing down soap and paper towel dispensers. To combat this, starting next month, students will have to apply for a hall pass on their tablet or phone. A student will then have to approve the request.
The digital pass will track the students so school officials know who goes to the bathrooms and when.
District leaders said teachers are already being trained in using the new technology.
This is just the latest method school leaders are using to help combat the vandalism. In Pittsburgh, students at Taylor Allderdice High School have new bathroom restrictions after a number of incidents involving soap dispensers, toilets and other equipment being damaged.
