WEXFORD, Pa. — North Allegheny is still planning to hold an in-person graduation ceremony for students this summer.
The commencement is tentatively scheduled for July 17. The district said if commencement plans are canceled due to state guidelines, a celebration and reunion will occur during homecoming 2020, Thanksgiving, or winter break.
The district is also planning virtual celebrations to recognize the Class of 2020.
“We recognize how disappointing it is for our students, families, and friends who won’t have the opportunity to participate in traditional end-of-year programming,” said Robert Scherrer, superintendent of the North Allegheny School District. “The hope is that these events will bring everyone together to show support for our seniors and still allow our students to engage in events that honor their efforts in achieving this important milestone.”
On June 12, each senior will be recognized during a virtual celebration with student performances and special messages from the NA community. The district said this is also the official date when they confer diplomas for seniors.
Here are events the district has planned to celebrate seniors:
● May 4-29: NASD Loves Our Seniors – Members of the North Allegheny School District staff will share special messages for the seniors through the school’s social media channels throughout the month of May. Follow along via Twitter (@NA_Schools), Instagram (@na_schools), and Facebook (@northallegheny).
