The Original Hot Dog Shop included in list of nationwide restaurants that closed this year because of COVID-19

PITTSBURGH — A beloved local restaurant that closed for good because of the pandemic was mentioned this weekend in The New York Times.

The Original Hot Dog Shop in Oakland was included in a list of notable diners, dives and eateries across the country that closed this year.

The “O” closed in April after 60 years in business.

Earlier in the year, Mt. Lebanon native Mark Cuban said he was in talks to buy and save the restaurant. But so far, nothing has happened.
