PITTSBURGH — It’s another day of more than 200 positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Allegheny County as the numbers continue to spike and the county makes up for more than 26% of the state’s new cases.

According to the health department, there were 215 new cases, six new hospitalizations and one new death. The county’s total number of cases now sits at 4,762. This marks the fourth day in the past week where more than 200 cases were reported.
The new cases range in age from 1 month to 86 years old with an average patient’s age of 33.
Health officials said the cases reported Saturday were from testing done over the course of July 1 through 10.
On Friday, state health officials reported more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the first time since mid-May when they declared the outbreak had peaked. Allegheny County accounted for more than 26% of the 813 new cases reported by the state on Saturday.
Local health experts have advised colleges, however, to not rely on testing data as they plan for students and faculty to return to campus.

A North Hills preschool made the difficult decision to close its doors for the first time in more than 60 years because of the unknowns associated with the virus.
The state health department reported 813 new positive cases statewide, bringing Pa.‘s total to 94,689.
Gov. Tom Wolf also added four states to the list of states with travel restrictions. His administration now recommends that Pennsylvania residents who travel to Delaware, Iowa, Kansas or Oklahoma that you quarantine for 14 days upon return.

If you have traveled, or plan to travel, to an area where there are high amounts of COVID-19 cases, it is recommended that you stay at home for 14 days upon return to Pennsylvania. Those states include the following:

- Iowa
- Kansas
- Louisiana

- Nevada
- North Carolina
- Oklahoma
