Pennsylvania girl gets 42 stitches after suspected shark attack in Ocean City, Maryland

OCEAN CITY, Md. — A 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl had to get 42 stitches after a suspected shark attack in Ocean City, Maryland.

According to WBAL-TV, Jordan Prushinski and her family are from Luzerne County. They were on vacation Monday at the beach at 119th Street when she went into knee-deep water. She was swimming and boogieboarding when she came limping out of the water bleeding.

Her mother and other beachgoers rushed to help, including an EMT and a nurse from Annapolis, Maryland, who were enjoying the beach a few feet away.

The family and officials are still working to find out what type of shark it was. Family members said they believe it was a shark because “no other animal makes this type of bite.” The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is still looking into the suspected attack.
