PITTSBURGH — Pennsylvania is expecting to receive around 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses per week beginning Monday, totals that will allow the Commonwealth to expand vaccine eligibility rapidly over the next three weeks.

In a one-on-one interview, PA Department of Health Acting Secretary Alison Beam said that increase will allow people in 1B to become eligible to sign-up for a vaccine next week.

All Pennsylvanians over 16-years-old will be eligible beginning April 19, but Beam warned that doesn’t mean they will be able to get a vaccine right away.

“With the forecasting we’re able to do with those first dose projections from the federal government, it will likely be a week or two weeks before you can actually secure that shot into an arm,” Beam said.
