PITTSBURGH — Get your rod and your tackle box ready, the opening day of trout season starts at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission implemented the opening for the entire state on the same day this year so anglers have two more weeks to enjoy trout fishing, to reduce travel associated with multiple opening days and to help limit crowds on popular waterways.
The PFBC stocked about 3.2 million adult trout across 721 streams and 128 lakes.
Anglers can keep up to five trout per day with a minimum size of seven inches.
