HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania lawmakers want the state to observe daylight saving time year-round.
The bill is moving forward after it was approved by the House State Government Committee on Wednesday. It passed with a 23-2 vote.
Rep. Ryan Mackenzie is the prime sponsor of the bill.
“Twice a year, Pennsylvanians are subject to adding unnecessary stress to our lives by changing our clocks between daylight saving time (DST) and standard time,” Mackenzie said in a January memorandum.
Mackenzie said his legislation, modeled off a Florida law, would allow Pennsylvania to follow permanent DST if the United States Congress allows states to do so.
