Pickup truck ends up on its roof after crashing into cars in Rankin

RANKIN, Pa. — A pickup truck ended up on its roof early Monday morning after crashing into at least three other cars in Rankin.

The crash happened about 12:30 a.m. on Rankin Boulevard.

The truck was overturned in the middle of the street, with a black car up against it that was also damaged. A third vehicle that was smashed up was off the road. There was at least one other vehicle damaged.

Some of the vehicles were totaled. Others will require thousands of dollars in repairs.

Neighbors said the driver of the truck, who took off, is lucky to have walked away from the crash. They said the sound of the impact was so loud it woke them up.

“It happened so fast. The noise was gigantic. It sounded like a bomb went off, and that bomb I thought was going off was actually the car tumbling over and going on its roof,” A Rankin resident named Sondra said.

Police were at the scene investigating, but further information about what led to the crash has not been made available.

Police said they have made contact with the driver, who will face charges including hit and run.
