CREIGHTON, Pa. — Pittsburgh Brewing Co. is ready to add a long-missing ingredient to the business of Iron City beer.
After the company opted 12 years ago to move the production of its beers out of its original brewery in Lawrenceville to have them made on a contract basis in Latrobe, new owner Cliff Forrest is now preparing for Iron City to make its own beers again.
The company has announced a plan to build a new brewery in the former Pittsburgh Glass Works plant along the Allegheny River in Creighton in northeast Allegheny County.

Construction crews are already working on some demolition at the 40-acre site to begin preparing to convert the 140,000-square-foot former PPG facility into a brewery. The plan calls for importing a new 100-barrel brewing system from Germany.
