PITTSBURGH — The last year has been frustrating for so many, and in order to cope with the challenges brought by COVID-19, a Pittsburgh couple has come up with a smashing new business idea.

“There is a smile on every single person’s face when they’re done!” said Shawn Moorefield, owner of the 412 Rage Room.

For a fee, folks get their choice of a sledgehammer or bat to smash items to smithereens. Items include everything from plates to bottles to electronics. There’s no need to bring your own stuff, as the business has plenty of things to offer between donated products and breakable items nabbed at thrift stores.

“When you break something at your house because you’re frustrated, you have to clean it up... if you come here, we do that for you!”

In a year like 2020, the concept quickly took off, and he and his wife just relocated to a larger space.

This weekend, they’re set to debut that new property, located at 2146 Watson Street in Uptown. Walk-ins will be welcome this Saturday and Sunday. After that, you’re asked to make appointments and you can do so online. Parties can even be booked as well at https://www.pghrageroom.com/.

Upon arrival, people will have their temperatures checked and will be asked to sign a waiver. You’re then given two pairs of gloves, including one that’s disposable. To protect from shattered glass, customers will wear a face shield.

“Wear pants, not a dress or skirt, ‘cause it’s gonna fly everywhere,” Moorefield said. “There’s no running from it!”
