PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of the “Independent Citizen Police Review Board Charter Amendment” on Election Day.

If you live in the City of Pittsburgh, you saw this amendment on your ballot.

More than 76% of voters supported the ballot amendment, which will now require police officers to cooperate with investigations conducted by the Independent Citizen Police Review Board.

The referendum allows the CPRB to perform audits of the city’s police bureau, but the key is requiring officers to participate in those investigations.

A simple majority requirement was required for the approval of the amendment, and it greatly surpassed the 51% mark.
