The CEO of the Cultural Trust thinks issues like panhandlers, shootings, and drug use is reaching a dangerous level.

In fact, CEO Kevin McMahon put those concerns in a letter to the mayor.

The list asked for more of a police presence in Katz Plaza, the theater district and Cultural Trust Offices on Liberty Avenue. McMahon said during the past year, there are more drunk and disorderly teens, marijuana use and lewd behavior. He also pointed to the double shooting on the Fourth of July, which sent two people to the hospital.

Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich said he was disheartened to learn of the trust concerns through a letter. He said certain problems do escalate in summer, but doesn't agree overall crime in the theater district is up.
