Police arrested a woman Tuesday after they say she led them on a chase that got up to 45 mph with two young children in her car.
Officers tried to pull over Candace Dixon, 31, just before noon in the West End after recognizing her vehicle as one that had been previously stopped multiple times for not having registration.

The back of Dixon’s white Chevrolet HHR has “NO DRIVER LICENSE OR INSURANCE REQUIRED, PRIVATE, NOT FOR COMMERCE USE - PRIVATE MODE OF TRAVEL” written on the back, police said.

Dixon refused to pull over, taking police on a chase into a parking lot near Parkway Center, where she stopped, police said. An adult female passenger exited the vehicle, and two Pittsburgh police officers exited theirs.
That's when police say Dixon accelerated slowly toward one of the officers and struck him several times before leaving the parking lot toward Greentree Road.
She eventually took them on a route onto the Parkway East and Route 28 until she stopped on the 40th Street Bridge, police said. At some point during the pursuit, she allegedly called 911 to say an infant and a 2-year-old were in the car with her.
The children were unharmed. The officer struck by the vehicle was not seriously injured.
Dixon was charged with aggravated assault, fleeing police, endangering the welfare of children and related charges.
