A missing 24-year-old woman who hadn’t been seen since Friday morning and who missed her best friend’s wedding was found alive in Butler County.

State police, friends and family were looking for clues as to what happened. Troopers said 24-year-old Brittany Anne Omstead from Clearfield Township was last seen Friday morning around 10:45 a.m.

A witness said he was standing around talking with other volunteers when Omstead walked out of the cornfield toward her house. Troopers stopped and asked her what she was doing. She replied “I live here.”

The family said they were grief-stricken and that Omstead would never miss the wedding events.

Omstead’s mother told our reporter Amy Marcinkiewicz that when she went to her daughter’s home, she found her keys and phone still there. State police said her car was also found at her home.

Dozens of people showed up to Omstead’s home to search on foot and horseback. The group scoured corn fields that surround the home in the hopes of finding her or any clues as to what happened. As the sunlight started to fade, so did the hope of many of the searchers.

“She’s talking, but she’s very lethargic, very tired. I don’t know if she was hiding or was hurt. We don’t know that yet,” Maria Omstead-Wagner said. “She doesn’t know what happened to her.”

There’s no word yet on where Omstead went since she was last seen Friday morning.
