Police: Man arrested for fighting 2 state troopers on side of busy highway

WASHINGTON CO., Pa. — A man was arrested early Wednesday in Washington County after allegedly fighting two state police troopers.

Police say they pulled over Devon Bertram on Interstate 70 near the Chestnut Street exit as he was weaving in and out of traffic and crossing the center line.

They said he had blood shot eyes, smelled of alcohol and refused to get out of his truck. Once they got him out, police said that’s when the fight began.

According to troopers, the fight happened in the middle of the right lane of the interstate. Bertram resisted arrest even after being tased repeatedly, police said.

Bertram got away, crossing the grass median, before troopers caught him on the exit ramp. Both troopers suffered multiple lacerations and bleeding.

Investigators don’t know why Bertram was in the area. 11 Investigates found a criminal history that dates back to 2010 in Ohio, including selling crack cocaine near a high school and distributing heroin and fentanyl.
