POWERBALL: Where & when to watch drawing, how to play, how to claim prize

At an estimated $700 million, the second-largest Powerball jackpot on record is up for grabs Wednesday night. At midday Wednesday, tickets were selling statewide at a rate of about 8,300 per-minute, according to the Lottery.

Here’s what you need to know about the drawing and how to claim the prize if you win:

Where can the drawing be seen? When?

The live Powerball drawing will air live at 11 p.m. -- only on Channel 11.

How do you play?

During the drawing, five of 69 white balls and one of 26 red balls are pulled. The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls (in any order) and the red Powerball. The second prize of $1,000,000 is won by matching the five white balls (in any order). In all, there are nine ways to win a cash prize (CLICK HERE).

How long do you have to play?

In Pennsylvania, Powerball tickets can be purchased until 9:59 p.m. on the day of the drawing.

Complete the back of your ticket, including your name, address, phone number and signature.

How does the winner claim their prize?

In Pennsylvania, Lottery retailers can pay prizes up to and including $2,500. If you've won more than $600 on a single ticket, a standard claim form must be filled out and sent to the Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters in Middletown. CLICK HERE for more details.

How long do you have to collect a prize?

Winners have up to one year from the date of a drawing to claim a prize from one of the Pennsylvania Lottery's terminal-based games, including Powerball. CLICK HERE for more details.

A Powerball jackpot winner may choose to receive their prize in 30 annual payments, or a one-time, lump-sum cash payment.
