PITTSBURGH — Pennsylvanians continue to have problems with the state’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance system.

For people seeking assistance, the process has been a nightmare. They say it is flawed and needs to be overhauled.

Channel 11 got answers from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to some questions and concerns.

Why are so many people stuck in the waiting room before ultimately being kicked off the PUA website?

Officials claim the vendor briefly took the site offline earlier this week to fix the problem with the site constantly crashing.

Why is it taking several weeks for folks to get their direct deposit or bank card?

Due to the pandemic, officials said the wait time has increased upward of six weeks in some cases. They said patience is key.

Claimants should never file a second claim because that could delay the process even longer and strain the system.

Scam warning

Department of Labor and Industry officials are warning of potential scams. They said people should only file through their verified website, never on social media pages.
