Protester turns himself in to police for involvement in violent East Liberty demonstration

A local activist was chanting outside the Allegheny County Courthouse on Wednesday morning after turning himself in to police.

He was involved in protests in East Liberty last month that turned violent.

Supporters of Lorenzo Rulli walked into the courthouse along with him and his attorney, singing and holding signs.

The Pittsburgh LGBTQ Coalition told Channel 11 this is just the beginning of his legal battle.

Charges have not yet been filed against him, but the coalition claims Rulli will face 14 charges, including three felonies, that are all related to protesting. He was arrested at a protest in East Liberty on June 1, along with 19 other people.

Rulli has been at several recent protests.
