Search underway for inmate who escaped while being taken back to Mercer County Jail

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Police are searching for an inmate who escaped while he was being taken back to the Mercer County Jail, authorities said.

Travis Brandt was out of jail on furlough, police said. He was being taken back to the jail about 5 p.m. Monday when he escaped from the vehicle that was being used to transport him.

Brandt was last seen by family members in Hermitage, where he fled from the vehicle, police said.

Brandt is described as white with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about Brandt’s whereabouts is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer at 724-662-6162.
