CANONSBURG, Pa. — The owners of the Jimmy G’s Bar and Grill in Canonsburg said they have had to turn people away after a fire broke out.
Fire officials point to a smoldering cigarette butt tossed into a garbage can as the likely source of the fire. Within 8 minutes, the can erupted in flames and it spread.
Luckily, a cleaning crew arrived and was able to call 911.
The building has stood on a corner in Canonsburg since 1930 and was a bar and restaurant since the 1950s.
“It free burned for about a half hour prior to us getting the call,” said Canonsburg Fire Chief Tim Solobay.
