PITTSBURGH — Nearly 15 months after the tree of life massacre, state and local leaders are addressing hate crimes in Pennsylvania
State Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Rabbi Jeffrey Myers were part of a panel on hate crimes Monday night at the Heinz History Center.
Panelists talked about hate crimes, creating a safer community and free speech.

Shapiro says there's been a spike in religious and LGBTQ attacks in Pennsylvania.
"The more we can tone down the rhetoric while still protecting free speech, I know we can bring down those incidents of hate actions," Shapiro said.
Sharing ideas is a way to combat hate speech Shapiro said.
