BULLSKIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after suspected human remains were found Monday in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, officials said.

The bones were found in a wooded area off Forest Lake Road, near Bear Rocks Road. Investigators said it appears they had been there for a while.

The scene remained active Tuesday as detectives and a forensic unit worked to process it. A forensic anthropologist is being brought in from Mercyhurst University to help with the case.

Further information about the discovery was not immediately available. An official determination that the remains are human has yet to be made.

Police have all roads leading to the discovery completely blocked off, and this likely will remain the case until the investigation is over.

Neighbors in the community were shocked to find out police discovered suspected human remains in a heavily wooded area where they often walk.

“I walk through here all of the time with my dog, so I’m surprised,” said Alena Dragovich, a neighbor. “We wouldn’t have ever stumbled upon something like that.”

Dragovich added that police finding bones in that area is a scary thought.
