US Marshals, police make arrest in deadly Brighton Heights shooting

PITTSBURGH — U.S. Marshals and Pittsburgh police were able to locate and arrest a man in connection with a June shooting in Brighton Heights.

Officials said Darnell McFadden, 24, was charged with criminal homicide and gun charges, among others, after Demetrius Herring was shot and killed in the 1200 block of Woods Run Avenue.

Officers were called to the area around 1:45 a.m. on June 14, where they found Herring after multiple Shotspotter alerts. He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at a nearby hospital. Investigators were notified of a second shooting victim, who arrived at a hospital in a private car.
