LARIMER — Two juveniles were taken to the hospital after the vehicle they were in crashed and caught fire after they tried to flee from police.

Just after 2 a.m. Pittsburgh police officers spotted a vehicle believed involved in an armed carjacking earlier in the evening on Race Street and began following it.

When they attempted to pull the vehicle over, it sped off, leading police on a chase for about a mile before crashing at East Liberty Blvd. and Frankstown Avenue.

The vehicle caught fire, but police were able to extinguish it and safely get the two male juveniles inside out. Medics took them to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Channel 11 checked with local businesses to see if their surveillance cameras captured any of the crash and are still waiting to hear back.
