Vehicles slide off steep road in Pittsburgh neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — Several cars slid off a steep road amid icy conditions Monday morning, forcing the road’s closure in Pittsburgh’s Banksville neighborhood.

At least three vehicles slid off Potomac Avenue about 7 a.m. They came to a stop in a home’s front yard.

The road was closed while Pittsburgh Public Works crews plowed and salted the road.

“Coming down when it snows, it’s terrible. It’s like you’re in a screaming metal death trap. It’s something surreal. It happened to me and my wife a couple of weeks ago,” Seth Dotson, who lives in Banksville, said.

“My place of business is right there and we access our parking lot from Potomac, and it’s a treacherous road in the wintertime,” Richard Talarico said.
