PITTSBURGH — Final votes trickled in on Thursday concerning the redevelopment project for the former Civic Arena site in the lower Hill District. The Urban Redevelopment Authority held a virtual vote and allowed the public to weigh in.

“I believe this plan will reconnect the Hill District in every way, especially economically with the greater downtown area,” said Tonya, a small-business owner.

City leaders said they recognize the plan has shortcomings and pledge to have more conversations and greater accountability with the public moving forward.

“There needs to be more accountability and transparency in terms of how the money is managed and how the money is utilized to help,” said Rhonda Hall.
