WHITEHALL, Pa. — An early Friday morning water main break on Grove Road in Whitehall sent water rushing underneath the back door of Frisch’s restaurant and into a back hallway and banquet room.
“It’s probably going to take a couple days to get this room dried out, cleaned up,” said owner Sherry Frisch.
According to Frisch, this is the second time in two years a break on Grove Road has damaged the restaurant.
Both incidents were around this time of year.
“I’m thinking [it’s] the change in the weather, you know, cold to warm and warm to cold,” Frisch said.
Whether or not, it’s certainly bad timing, with the weekly Lenten Friday rush.
The Frisches sell about 500 fried fish sandwiches each Friday during Lent, and despite the water damage, they’re still keeping up with orders and keeping a positive attitude.
“You have to do whatever you can in this kind of business, cause you still have customers coming in,” said Frisch. “We’ll make the best of what we have.”
The restaurant has a party scheduled for its banquet room on Sunday.
It expects to have that room cleaned up and ready by then.
