PITTSBURGH — A water main break early Wednesday morning sent water running onto Butler Street in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.
The break was reported about 3 a.m. on Davison Street, between 44th and 45th streets, not far from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
A geyser of water shot up from the street.

“I was lying in bed and heard like a pop, and I looked out and there was a ton of water shooting straight up in the air, 3 feet in the air,” Brian Narr, who lives in the area, said. “It was like a flood.”

Freezing water was a concern on a morning where temperatures were in the teens and wind chills were near or below zero.
Salt trucks were called to treat streets affected by the water.
The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority said there were service outages because of the break, but the number of customers impacted was not immediately available.
