PITTSBURGH — A water main break late Sunday night left a street in Pittsburgh’s Chateau neighborhood under water.
The break was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday on Columbus Avenue. The road was closed Monday morning in the area of Metropolitan Street.

A security guard who was in the area at the time of the break told Channel 11 News that it sounded like a bomb went off. He then saw water spewing several feet into the air.
A Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority spokesperson said the break happened in a 12-inch water main. Repairs are expected to take most of the day.
