PITTSBURGH — A beloved Pittsburgh businessman was attacked in broad daylight – intentionally run over by a driver.

Neighbors didn’t believe what they were seeing around lunchtime on Lowrie Street in Troy Hill.

The owner of Ron’s Pizza Palace was trying to park when they noticed a very impatient driver behind him.

Witnesses said the driver then walked over to the victim’s window and punched him in the face.

“The gentleman sort of blocked him off, got out of his car,” said a witness who wanted to remain anonymous.

The victim was staggering when the driver allegedly bumped him with the front of his SUV, knocking him to the ground.

“He backed up a half a car length, skidded and ran him over,” said the witness.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Neighbors are in shock.

“He’s a sweetheart. For this to happen going to work or taking a break and going back, it’s just unfathomable.”

Police are investigating and trying to track down the driver.
